The Arizona Diamondbacks are right in the thick of the race in the NL West and they are hoping to keep their strong play going this weekend. The Diamondbacks are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 11-7 on the road this season, and they are a game behind the Giants in the NL West standings. As a team the Diamondbacks are hitting .252 with Paul Goldschmidt hitting .322, Gerardo Parra hitting .319, and A.J. Pollock hitting .250. For the season Cahill has allowed 39 hits and 15 earned runs while striking out 39 over 50 innings for a 2-4 record and a 2.70 ERA.
Miami is 24-55 in their last 79 games as a home underdog, 14-40 in their last 54 games overall, and 1-5 in their last six against the NL West. Arizona is 4-1 in their last five road games, 10-4 in their last 14 games as a road favorite, and 3-8 in Cahill’s last 11 starts against a team with a losing record. Arizona is 6-1 in their last seven games in Miami.
Slowey has pitched well for Miami but the Marlins just don’t have much punch this season and with Arizona playing well and winning games look for them to win here as well.
