Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves

The Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves meet for game two of their series on Saturday in Washington after an extra innings battle on Friday. The Nationals are -165 favorites over the Braves with an over/under run total set at 7.
The Washington Nationals appeared to have Friday’s game with the Braves in the bag but they let it get away from them in the ninth inning before eventually losing in the 10th. Bryce Harper hit a home run, and Denard Span and Ian Desmond each had two hits as the Nationals scored four runs on eight hits in all. Starting pitcher Ross Detweiler allowed four hits and a run while striking out five over seven innings but didn’t factor in the decision as Drew Storen allowed two hits on three runs to get a blown save and Craig Stammen allowed two runs off of one hit to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Nationals start Stephen Strasburg who is 1-1 in his first two starts. Thus far Strasburg has a 4.38 ERA allowing 12 hits and six earned runs while striking out eight over 12.1 innings of work.
The Atlanta Braves looked to be doomed on Friday but they never quit as they rallied for the win. Ramiro Pena had two hits including the game winning two run home run, Chris Johnson had three hits and a home run , and Justin Upton had three hits as the Braves scored six runs on nine hits. On the mound starter Julio Teheran allowed six hits and four runs while striking out six over six innings to not factor in the decision as Ed O’Flaherty got his second win and Craig Kimbrel earned his fifth save. For Saturday’s rematch the Braves turn to Tim Hudson who got his first win of the year in his last start. For the year Hudson has allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out 10 over 11 innings for a 3.27 ERA and a 1-0 record.
Washington is 5-1 in their last six home games against a right-handed starter, 39-20 in their last 59 home games, and 11-5 in Strasburg’s last 16 starts against the NL East. Atlanta is 5-0 in their last five road games, 22-7 in their last 29 games overall, and 6-1 in Hudson’s last seven starts as an underdog. Atlanta has won the last five meetings of these two.
I have this one going just like it sets up and staying under the total but I also have to take the big price with the Braves who are simply red hot right now.
