Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns play host to James Harden and the Houston Rockets on Monday night. The Rockets are -7 point favorites over the Suns with an over/under point total set at 210.
Head to head, the Rockets are 7-21 ATS in the last 28 meetings and 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Phoenix while the underdog is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The Suns are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games playing on 1 days rest. The Rockets on the other hand are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Pacific, but just 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
While Houston has clearly been a better team than Phoenix this season, their head-to-head battles have been quite competitive. Granted, the Rockets did blow the Suns out to the tune of 30 points in one of the games, but the other two games were decided by a total of five points, with each team winning on their home court.
As far as recent form goes, the Rockets come into tonight’s game having won six of eight and are currently locked in a battle with the Golden State Warriors to see who will finish with the sixth spot in the West. On the other hand, the Suns have lost 15 of their last 17 games.
While Phoenix has indeed lost in nearly every game it has played in lately, if you did a little deeper, they really haven’t been all that bad. Sure, they did lose in Minnesota by double digits in their last outing, but they did manage to take down the Mavericks in Dallas before that game and there previous three losses were all by four points or less.
I really want to take Houston in this game, naturally, but the Suns have played them tough in two out of three games and I think they can keep this one within the number again.
