Golden St. Warriors vs. New Orleans Hornets
The Golden State Warriors continue their march towards the playoffs with a visit from the New Orleans Hornets. The Warriors are -8 point favorites over the Hornets with an over/under point total set at 197.5.
Head to head, the Hornets are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings while the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Warriors are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 3 or more days rest, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Hornets on the other hand are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 2 days rest and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games.
The New Orleans Hornets come into tonight’s game in some good form as they have won four of six, trouble is, all of those games came on their home court. The Hornets have really struggled on the road for over a month and a half now as they have dropped six straight away from home. What’s more concerning, New Orleans has also gone 0-6 against the spread in those games.
Following a stretch there where the Golden State Warriors looked like they could slip out of playoff contention, they have since turned things around as they come into tonight’s contest having won seven of their last 10. While the Warriors had a surprising home loss to the Sacramento Kings not so long ago, that their only real blemish in the last two weeks and they are coming off a dominating 125-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in their last outing.
I briefly flirted with taking New Orleans and the points here, but I just can’t bring myself to do it given their previous results away from home and the fact that the Warriors sliced them up at home to the tune of 21 points just over two weeks ago. I wouldn’t touch this play myself as I could see a scenario where the Hornets stick around enough for the back door cover, but the Warriors are my pick here.
