Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers head to Orland to face the Magic on Tuesday night. The Lakers are -8 point favorites over the Magic with an over/under total set at 206.
Head to head, the Lakers are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Orlando while the road team is 11-5-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings and the underdog is 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings. The Magic are 8-21 ATS in their last 29 home games, 3-12 ATS in their last 15 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Lakers on the other hand are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400, but just 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 15-37 ATS in their last 52 games following a S.U. win.
As funny as it sounds, Orlando backers would much prefer this game to be played in Los Angeles because they have already beaten the Lakers at home this season by double digits and they always seem to play well and cover the spread against the better teams in the league on the road. The Magic are coming off a 99-91 win over Philadelphia on Sunday, but they had gotten blown out in their previous handful of home games to Indiana by 29, Memphis by 26, Houston by 8, Sacramento by 24 and Cleveland by 24.
The improved play of the Los Angeles Lakers has been well publicised, so I don’t need to go into that too much. Los Angeles is coming off a strong 90-81 victory over the Bulls on Sunday, but they needed large comebacks to get wins in their previous two games against New Orleans and Toronto.
Seeing Orlando’s form at home this season scares me, but I’m comfortable getting the eight points here. I have to think that the Magic can at least get up for Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, because they did the same when the Miami Heat came to town, losing by a single bucket in overtime. I can’t really see the Lakers losing this one, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they fell behind early and rallied back for the win.
