Wisconsin Badgers vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Wisconsin Badgers face off on Thursday in a Big Ten college basketball match up. The Golden Gophers are -5 point favorites over the Badgers with an over/under point total set at 118.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have fallen off of late losing six of their last eight games and slipping into sixth place in the Big Ten standings. Minnesota is 5-6 in Big Ten play, 12-2 at home this season, and will be looking for revenge for a one point loss at Wisconsin earlier this season. As a team Minnesota is averaging 71.4 points, 15.5 assists, and they are shooting 45.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 61.2 points, 12 assists, and their opponents are shooting 39.9 percent. Andre Hollins is averaging 13.8 points, Rodney Williams is averaging 11.9 points and 5.5 rebounds, and Austin Hollins is averaging 11.2 points. Minnesota’s schedule softens up considerably over the last few weeks of the season but they will need to take advantage of it.
The Wisconsin Badgers have won three games in a row and four of their last five and they have moved into 20th in the national rankings. Wisconsin is 8-3 in the Big 10, 3-4 on the road this season, and they have played the 24th ranked schedule in the nation. As a team Wisconsin is averaging 67.4 points, 13.2 assists, and they are shooting 42.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 56.5 points, 8.4 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40 percent. Jared Berggren is averaging 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds, Ben Brust is averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds, and Ryan Evans is averaging 10.8 points. Wisconsin pulled of a miracle on Saturday at home against Michigan and it will be interesting to see if it builds their confidence or if they are still hung over for this one.
Minnesota is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games overall, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record, and 2-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The road team has covered the spread in seven of the last 10 meetings of these two.
The total is set at 118 and even for this game that seems a little light so my play is on the over

Pick
