Charlotte Bobcats vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The Charlotte Bobcats host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night NBA action. The Lakers are -6 point favorites over the Bobcats with an over/under point total set at 203.
Head to head, the Lakers are 3-13 ATS in the last 16 meetings and 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Charlotte, while the underdog is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings. The Bobcats are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days, 7-19 ATS in their last 26 vs. Western Conference and 16-39 ATS in their last 55 home games. The Lakers on the other hand are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
You wouldn’t know it, but the Charlotte Bobcats have actually fared very well against the Los Angeles Lakers in recent seasons. The Lakers have won the last three meetings, however, the Bobcats had won five of the previous six and the last two at home. In their lone meeting this season, Charlotte led Los Angeles by 18 points late in the game, before the Lakers made a furious comeback to steal a 101-100 victory. The Bobcats have now covered in 13 of the last 16 contests and six of seven at Time Warner Cable Arena.
As far as individual form goes, the Lakers were looking pretty good until their blowout 116-95 loss in Boston last night. Even with the defeat, Los Angeles has won six of eight as they continue their climb up the Western Conference standings. On the other hand, Charlotte went winless on their recent five-game road-trip which was capped off by their 122-95 defeat in Cleveland on Wednesday. While the Bobcats played Miami down to the last couple of minutes, they still had an average losing margin of 15.6 points per game on their road swing.
While the Lakers seem like the logical pick here, just remember they are on a back-to-back and this will be their sixth road game in a row. Meanwhile, this will be only the Bobcats third game since last Saturday, so they should definitely be the fresher team. I’ll go with the Bobcats here.
