Oklahoma City Thunder vs. LA Lakers
The Oklahoma City Thunder head to LA on Friday to face off against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Thunder are -7 point favorites over the Thunder with an over/under point total set at 214.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been probably the biggest disappointment of the NBA season thus far as the Lakers are sitting at 15-20 overall this season. The defense for Los Angeles was supposed to be greatly improved with the talent LA brought in, but the Lakers are allowing more than 101 points per game on the year, ranking Los Angeles 26th overall in scoring defense in the league. The Lakers can still score with the best of them as Los Angeles is scoring more than 103 points per game on average, but with this defense this team won’t go far.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are far from a disappointment this season as the Thunder are a very solid 27-8 on the season and currently the Thunder lead the Northwest division by seven games over Portland and Denver. The Thunder once again have one of the best offenses around as OKC is scoring better than 105 points per outing, led by Kevin Durant, who is putting up 28.1 points per game on average. Defensively the Thunder are also improved this season as OKC is ranked 9th in the league in scoring defense, giving up just 96.3 points per game on average.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a very solid 21-13 against the spread this season, while going 8-5 against the number on the road. The Lakers are just 14-21 ATS overall, and while playing at home, Los Angeles is just 8-10 against the spread on the year.
The over has been the play lately in this series, and it’s easy to see why as both the Lakers and the Thunder can put up points in bunches. With a total set with this high of a number, it’s like the odds makers are begging you to take the under. The Lakers need wins and normally that means a stiffer defensive effort, however the Lakers will have trouble stopping the Thunder, therefore Los Angeles will be forced to try and outscore OKC tonight resulting in a very high scoring game on National TV.
