Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators
The Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators face off on Wednesday in Athens in a SEC college basketball rematch of a one sided beat down at Florida a few weeks ago. The Gators are -17 point favorites over the Bulldogs.
The Georgia Bulldogs are struggling this season but they are also coming off of their first SEC win of the year knocking off LSU. Georgia is 7-4 at home and 0-4 against teams ranked in the top 25 and after the 33 point drubbing they took at UF it is going to take a monster effort here to get a win. As a team Georgia is averaging 60.1 points, 11.8 assists, and they are shooting 41.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 62.8 points, 11 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.4 percent. Kentavious Calwell-Pope is averaging 17.1 points and 6.2 rebounds, Nemanja Djurisic is averaging 8.1 points, and Donte’ Williams is averaging 6.0 points and 4.9 rebounds. Georgia looks to be in for a rough go of it the rest of the way this season.
The Florida Gators are starting to have the look of a team contending to win it all and they are coming off of a blowout win over a ranked Missouri team. Florida is off to a 4-0 start in the SEC and they are 4-1 on the road this season while paying what ranks as the seventh toughest schedule in the nation. As a team Florida is averaging 73.8 points, 14.9 assists, and they are shooting 49.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 51.7 points, 9.6 assists, and their opponents are shooting 36.1 percent. Kenny Boynton is averaging 13.2 points, Mike Rosario and Erik Murphy are averaging 12.5 points, and Patric Young is averaging 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds. Florida looks balanced and loaded and it should take them deep into March.
Georgia is 7-18 against the spread following a win, 1-4 against the spread against the SEC, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games against a team with a winning road record. Florida is 5-0 against the spread against the SEC, 5-0 against the spread following a win, and 19-7 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points. The home team has covered four in a row in this series.
The line is big in this one and while the chances of a second blowout are somewhat diminished I like the chances of the Gators covering the big number over the Dawgs
