Brooklyn Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks

The Brooklyn Nets look for payback as they play host to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. The Nets are -6 point favorites over the Hawks with an over/under point total set at 192.
Head to head, the Hawks are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings and Hawks are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Brooklyn, while the home team is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings and the favorite is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The Nets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Hawks on the other hand are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, but just 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
So the Hawks head out for a game on the road hey, let me all fill you in what happened last time they played away from home if you missed it. After losing by double digits in Cleveland and Washington, the Hawks headed to Chicago to face the Bulls on Wednesday, a game in which they lost 97-58. That’s right, 58 points. Now Atlanta only averages 95.8 points per game on the season, so it’s not like their an offensive juggernaut, but this was bad. The Hawks actually had 13 points in the first six minutes of the game, but then only seven points for the rest of the half to finish on 20 points and the rest was history.
Atlanta actually bounced back in their next game with an impressive performance over tonight’s opponents in Brooklyn, running out 109-95 winners at home. After shooting a season-low 29.3% against the Bulls, the Hawks shot a season-high 53.9% against the Nets and owned a 29-12 edge in fast-break points. For Brooklyn, it was just their second loss in their last 11 games for one of the form teams in the East. The Nets have looked like a completely team different since Avery Johnson was let go and they currently sit in fifth place in the standings.
This is a tough one because even though the Hawks have played horrible on the road recently, they are just coming off a dominating win against the Nets and they have now won the last six meetings straight up. On the flipside, Brooklyn will want revenge and they have actually been the best team in the East in the New Year. Atlanta might turn things around on the road tonight, but I just can’t go their past form and the fact that Brooklyn has been dominate at home recently.
