Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. St. Louis Rams

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the St. Louis Rams face off on Sunday in a battle of NFL teams that made nice strides this season but look to be a year away from being potential playoff teams. The Buccaneers are -3 point favorites over the Rams with an over/under point total set at 43.5.
Up until a few weeks back the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked like contenders to make the playoffs but a recent rough patch has knocked them out of the race and thinking about next year. The Bucs made some improvement in some key areas but they also have a few holes they need to fill this off season. Josh Freeman has completed 54.8 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while being sacked 21 times. Doug Martin has rushed for 1,250 yards averaging 4.6 yards per carry with 10 touchdowns and he has caught 38 passes. Vincent Jackson has 62 catches and eight touchdowns, Mike Williams has 50 catches and seven touchdowns, and Dallas Clark has 43 catches. Defensively Tampa Bay allows 24.9 points per game, 83.3 rushing yards, and 310.6 passing yards with 17 interceptions and 25 sacks. Lavonte David has 124 tackles, Mason Foster has 89 tackles, and Ronde Barber has 84 tackles. The Buccaneers will have a few more new faces next year and they may provide the answers they need.
The St. Louis Rams aren’t a playoff team this season but they have competed better than this franchise has in the past several years. Jeff Fisher will have another off season to get his type of talent on the roaster and as he does look for this team to become a contender. Sam Bradford has completed 60.2 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while being sacked 35 times. Steven Jackson is averaging 4.0 yards per carry and he has 30 catches in what looks to be his last season as a Ram. Danny Amendola has 57 catches, Brandon Gibson has 46 catches, and Chris Givens has 37 catches. Defensively the Rams allow 22.5 points, 117.6 rushing yards, and 217.4 passing yards with 13 interceptions and 41 sacks. James Laurinaitis has 125 tackles, Cortland Finnegan has 94 tackles, and Jo-Lonn Dunbar has 93 tackles. The Rams have developed one of the better pass rushes in the NFL and that is always a strong foundation to build on.
Tampa Bay is 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall, 9-24-1 against the spread in their last 34 home games, and 3-14 against the spread in their last 17 home games against a team with a losing record. St. Louis is 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games, 8-3 against the spread against the NFC, and 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 road games against a team with a losing home record. St. Louis is 1-5-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
This one looks to be close so getting points should be a better play though it is a small play at best as the Rams defense was shredded by Adrian Peterson last week and they face another quality back in this spot.
