Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs face off on Sunday in Tampa Bay in a NFL battle. The Buccaneers are -3 point favorites over the Chiefs with an over/under point total set at 43.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have just one win this season but they have been competitive in all of their games and have played hard. Josh Freeman has completed 54.6 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and four interceptions while being sacked seven times. Doug martin has taken the bulk of the carries in the backfield averaging 3.5 yards per carry and scoring a touchdown and LeGarrette Blount is averaging 3.4 yards per carry and has scored once. Vincent Jackson has 16 catches to lead the Bucs with two of them for touchdowns, Mike Williams has 11 catches and two touchdowns, and Dallas Clark has nine catches. Defensively Tampa Bay allows 22.8 points per game, 73.8 rushing yards, and 345.3 passing yards per game with six interceptions and eight sacks. Mason Foster has 36 tackles, Lavonte David has 33 tackles, and Michael Bennett has four sacks. Tampa Bay may not be ready to compete for a spot in the post season but they are coming off of a bye where they should have had an opportunity to work on some things.
There were expectations for the Kansas City Chiefs this season as they had several players returning from injury last year but thus far they have fallen short. QB Matt Cassel was knocked out of last game and more than likely won’t go in this one as it will be Brady Quinn who has completed all three of the passes he has thrown this year. Jamaal Charles is averaging 5.4 yards per carry with two touchdowns and he has 15 receptions and Shaun Draughn gets the tough yards averaging 4.7 yards per carry with a touchdown and he has 11 catches. Dwayne Bowe leads the Chiefs with 31 catches and three touchdowns, Dexter McCluster has 15 catches, and Jon Baldwin has 11 catches. Defensively Kansas City allows 29 points per game, 121 rushing yards, and 205.8 passing yards with three interceptions and 12 sacks. Derrick Johnson has 38 tackles, Justin Houston has 6.0 sacks, and Brandon Flowers has two interceptions. The Chief’s biggest issue is that they turn the ball over often and are minus 15 in turnovers this year.
Tampa Bay is 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games overall, 1-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-1 against the spread following a bye week. Kansas City is 6-2 against the spread following a loss, 1-4 against the spread following a cover, and 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record.
The Bucs are coming off of the bye week and we saw the Chiefs just fall apart last season when Cassel went down so while I don’t love this one I will roll with the Bucs.
