Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators
The Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators meet in Jacksonville for the annual rivalry game simply referred to as The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. The Gators are -6.5 point favorites over the Bulldogs with an over/under point total set at 48.
The Georgia Bulldogs looked to be the clear favorites in the SEC East this season but after getting beaten down at South Carolina they have no more room for error but with a win in this one they are right back in the mix. Aaron Murray has completed 65.3 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. Todd Gurley averages 6.7 yards per carry with nine touchdowns and Keith Marshall averages 7.0 yards per carry with five touchdowns for a solid 1-2 punch in the UGA backfield. Tavarres King has 26 catches and five touchdowns, Marlon Brown has 22 catches and three touchdowns, and Malcolm Mitchell has 18 catches. Defensively Georgia hasn’t lived up to the big expectations allowing 24.1 points per game, 167.9 rushing yards, 199.6 passing yards with five interceptions and 11 sacks. Shawn Williams has 51 tackles, Amarlo Herrera has tackles, and Jarvis Jones has 5.5 sacks. If Georgia loses here just about any scenario that gets them to the SEC Title Game would be all but eliminated.
The Florida Gators are exceeding all expectations thus far this season and they are thinking SEC Championship and beyond if they can keep their momentum going. Jeff Driskel has been outstanding for the Gators completing 66.9 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 321 yards and four touchdowns. Mike Gillislee is averaging 4.7 yards per carry with seven touchdowns and he also has five catches out of the backfield. Jeff Reed has 25 catches and three touchdowns to lead UF, Quinton Dunbar has 15 catches and two touchdowns, and Frankie Hammond has 13 catches and three touchdowns. Defensively Florida has got it done playing as unit and they allow 12.1 points per game, 97.3 rushing yards, and 184.7 passing yards with eight interceptions and 16 sacks. Josh Evans leads the Gators with 44 tackles and two sacks, Matt Elam has 39 tackles, and Jon Bostic has 38 tackles and three sacks. Florida has gotten it done on both sides of the ball creating turnovers and taking advantage of turnovers.
Georgia is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven SEC games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six neutral site games. Florida is 6-0 against the spread in their last six SEC games, 5-11-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 neutral site games. The favorite has covered in the last four meetings of these two.
