New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees face off on Sunday for the final game of their series in Cleveland. The Yankees are -150 favorites over the Indians with an over/under run total set at 9.5.
The Cleveland Indians bounced back from Friday’s loss to the Yankees as they beat them on Saturday as a big underdog. Michael Brantley homered and Ezequiel Carrera, Jack Hanahan, and Lou Marson had hits as the Indians scored three runs on just four hits. On the mound Justin Masterson was masterful allowing seven hits and a run while striking out six over 6.2 innings to go to 10-11 on the year and Chris Perez earned his 33rd save. For Sunday’s game Cleveland starts Ubaldo Jimenez who has lost five of his last six decisions. For the season Jimenez has allowed 152 hits and 89 earned runs while striking out 120 over 143.1 innings for a 5.59 ERA.
The New York Yankees are just hoping to get healthy by the post season and at the same time they are looking to avoid some of the chasers breathing down their necks. On Saturday Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano each had two hits and Nick Swisher added a hit but the Yankees scored just one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda took the loss allowing four hits and three runs while striking out six going eight innings. For Sunday’s game New York starts Freddy Garcia who has won his last three decisions. For the year Garcia has allowed 96 hits and 49 earned runs while striking out 72 over 89 innings of work for a 4.96 ERA.
Cleveland is 13-5 in their last 18 games as a home underdog, 4-7 in their last 11 games against the AL East, and 1-4 in Jimenez’s last five starts. New York is 6-2 in their last eight games against a right handed starter, 43-22 in their last 65 games as a favorite, and 0-4 in Garcia’s last four starts against the AL Central. New York is 19-8 in their last in their last 27 games in Cleveland.
I like the Yankees to win this game and bounce back from their loss yesterday.
