New York Jets vs. New York Giants

The New York Jets and the New York Giants meet on Saturday for their second preseason NFL games of 2012.  The Giants are -1 point favorites over the Jets with an over/under point total set at 36.5.

The New York Jets are ready to make some news for what they are doing on the field as opposed to off but in their first preseason game, a loss at Cincinnati, there wasn’t much to cheer about. While it’s a possible QB controversy neither QB looked good as Mark Sanchez threw for 21 yards and was sacked twice while Tim Tebow threw for 27 yards and an interception. At running back Shonn Greene averaged just 2.2 yards per carry while Joe McKnight looks more athletic averaging 4.6 yards per carry and Bilal Powell and Terrance Ganaway both saw action. Patrick Turner had three catches and Stephen Hill had two but this is clear a passing game that is struggling and the Jets can only be thankful it is still preseason. Defensively Isaiah Trufant and Ellis Lancaster each had six tackles while first round pick Quinton Couples looked impressive with five tackles and a sack. The Jets defense is going to be what keeps them in and win games for them this year as unless we see something dramatic QB is a huge hole for this ball club.

The New York Giants lost in their first preseason game against the Jaguars and they have plenty to work on this week but at the same time they got some big questions answered as well. At QB ELI Manning played sparingly completing 50 percent of his passes but David Carr and Ryan Perrilloux both looked decent though they were sacked a combined five times. At running back David Wilson looks to be a star in the making ripping off runs and catchi9ng passes as well as returning kicks but Ahmad Bradshaw carried just four times really making just a cameo appearance. Martellus Bennett had three catches as he comes over from Dallas and Rueben Randle had two catches as he looks to fill one of the vacated receiver spots. Defensively Spencer Paysinger had six tackles, Will Hill had five tackles, and Dwayne Hendricks had two sacks as the Giants had five sacks total but allowed 32 points. Overall the Giants defense allowed 156 yards rushing and 157 yards passing. Tom Coughlin would have found plenty to work on if the Giants had won 78-0 but after this one expect the Giants to look more focused after a rough week of practice and as we see more of the starting units.

It is always tough to call a game meaningless when these two are involved and the Giants are just the far better team from top to bottom right now and that gives them a big edge here.
