New York Giants vs. New England Patriots
The New York Giants and the New England Patriots face off on Wednesday in the Meadowlands for the final preseason game for each team. The Giants are -2 point favorites over the Patriots with an over/under point total set at 42.5.
The New York Giants have had the Patriots number of late including the last two times these two have met in the Super Bowl. We won’t be seeing Eli Manning at QB but we will see plenty of David Carr and Ryan Perrilloux, neither of whom are going to set the world on fire. At receiver with the Hakeem Nicks still on the mend and Mario Manningham gone this gives a chance for guys like Ramses Barden and Isaiah Stanback to make the roster, Da’Rel Scott and Andre Brown are battling as well at running back. The Giants defense relied on their depth to go all the way last year but layers like Shaun Rodgers Adewale Ojomo, Bruce Johnson and others hope they are part of that depth this year.
The New England Patriots have had very few problems with their offense, it was clearly their defense that was their undoing last season. In this one Tom Brady will be on the sideline as Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett get a chance to show their stuff one more time. At the bottom of the running back depth chart are Branden Bolden and Olympic Gold Medal winner Jeff Demps who both could make the team and contribute. Jeremy Ebert had a productive college career as a receiver and he will get a chance to show he can translate that to the NFL game. There are no sure things on the Patriots defense and we are going to see a variety of players and combination on the field here.
This one like all of these games is tough to call as the Patriots have a clear edge at QB depth but the Giants have a lot of depth on defense. The Patriots should get a small measure of revenge in a win here.
