Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves

The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves face off on Tuesday for game two of their series in Miami.  The Braves are -125 favorites over the Marlins with an over/under run total set at 7.5.

The Miami Marlins look like they are dropping out of the race in the N.L. East but on Monday they took a step in the right direction knocking off the Atlanta Braves in game one of their series. Jose Reyes, Donovan Solano, and Emilio Bonifacio had two hits each as the Marlins scored two runs on eight hits for the night. Starter Josh Johnson dominated on the mound allowing just one hit and striking out nine over six scoreless innings to bring his record to 6-7 on the year and Steve Cishek earned his third save. For Tuesday’s game Miami starts mark Buehrle who lost last time out to end a personal four game winning streak. For the season Buehrle has allowed 124 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 74 over 125.2 innings of work for a 3.29 ERA.

The Atlanta Braves fell a game further back in the National League East standings as they lost on Monday while the Nationals won. Michael Bourn, Martin Prado, Chipper Jones, and Brian McCann all had hits as the Braves scored just one run on four hits. On the mound Mike Minor allowed six hits and two runs while striking out four over seven innings to drop to 5-7 on the year. For Tuesday’s game Atlanta starts Tim Hudson who has won four of his last five decisions. For the season Hudson has allowed 93 hits and 40 runs while striking out 61 over 97.1 innings of work for a 3.70 ERA.

Miami is 8-2 in their last 10 home games, 2-5 in their last seven games overall, and 6-2 in Buehrle’s last eight home starts. Atlanta is 1-4 in their last five road games against a left handed starter, 22-8 in their last 30 game two of a series, and 5-1 in Hudson’s last six starts. Atlanta is 10-4 in their last 14 meetings in Miami.

The Marlins played well on Monday and both have these teams have won and lost in bunches on streaks so look for a similar result on Tuesday.
