Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds meet on Sunday as they close out their series at AT&T Park. The Giants are -150 favorites over the Reds with an over/under run total set at 7.5.
The San Francisco Giants have lost two of the first three games in their series with the Reds but remain in first place in the N.L. West. Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt had the only two hits for the Giants on Saturday and Gregor Blanco had the lone RBI as they scored just one run total. On the mound Barry Zito allowed five hits and a run while striking out three over six innings for his sixth loss of the year. For Sunday’s game San Francisco starts Ryan Vogelsong who as lost seven of his last eight decisions. For the season Vogelsong has allowed 78 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 67 over 96.2 innings of work for a 2.23 ERA.
The Cincinnati Reds are leading the N.L. Central but with the division tightly bunched every game is going to count. On Saturday Zack Cozart had two hits and Brandon Phillips and Jay Bruce each had hits as the Reds scored two runs on seven hits in all. Starting pitcher Mat Latos allowed just two hits and a run as he went the full nine innings striking out seven for his seventh win of the year. For Sunday’s series finale Cincinnati starts Bronson Arroyo who has lost four of his last five decisions. For the season Arroyo has allowed 102 hits and 43 earned runs while striking out 64 over 93.2 innings of work for a 4.13 ERA.
San Francisco is 12-5 in their last 17 games following a loss, 10-5 in their last 15 games against the N.L. Central, and 9-1 in Vogelsong’s last 10 starts. Cincinnati is 5-1 in their last six games against the N.L. West, 8-3 in their last 11 games following a win, and 4-1 in Arroyo’s last five starts against the N.L. West. Cincinnati is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings of these two.
The total is this one is set at 7.5 and I look for another low scoring game and for it to stay under.
