Milwaukee Brewers vs. Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet on Thursday for game three of their series in Kansas City.  The Brewers are -140 favorites over the Royals with an over/under run total set at 8.5.

The Kansas City Royals looked to be a lost cause on Wednesday but they battled back late and got the win in extra innings. Billy Butler, Jeff Francouer, Alcides Escobar, and Humberto Quintero all had two hits each as the Royals scored four runs on 10 hits. On the mound Jonathan Sanchez allowed seven hits and a run while striking out four to not factor in the decision as Tim Collins pitched the 11th inning to get the win. On Thursday Kansas City turns to Luke Hochevar who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Hochevar has allowed 76 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 49 over 63 innings for a 6.57 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers let one get away from them on Wednesday as they not only blew a two run lead in the ninth inning but then walked in the winning run in extra innings. Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez, and Norichika Aoki all had two hits each as the Brewers scored three runs on 13 hits in all. On the mound Randy Wolf allowed six hit s and a run over seven innings but John Axford blew the save and Kameron Loe took the loss when Jose Veras walked in his base runner. For Thursday’s game Milwaukee starts Shaun Marcum who has won his last three starts. For the season Marcum has allowed 66 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 72 over 74.2 innings of work for a 3.50 ERA.

Kansas City is 10-21 in their last 31 home games, 2-4 in their last six games overall, and 1-4 in Hochevar’s last five starts. Milwaukee is 5-2 in their last seven game three of a series, 2-7 in their last nine games as a road favorite, and 1-4 in Marcum’s last five road starts. Milwaukee is 1-5 in their last six games in Kansas City.

I see this one being low scoring once again as both pitchers go deep into the game and my pick is on the under.
