For Thursday’s game Boston looks to Clay Buchholz who won last time out after two no decisions. For the season Buchholz has allowed 81 hits and 47 earned runs while striking out 40 over 64.1 innings of work for a 6.58 ERA.
The Baltimore Orioles have had their way with Boston this series and they look for more of the same on Thursday. On Wednesday Endy Chavez, Wilson Betemit, and Robert Andino all had hits as the Orioles scored two runs on five hits. On the mound Wei-Yin Chen allowed seven hits and run while striking out four over seven innings for his fifth win of the year while Jim Johnson earned his 18th save of the season. For Thursday’s game Baltimore starts Brian Matusz who has won four of his last five starts. For the season Matusz has allowed 67 hits and 31 earned runs while striking out 50 over 63.1 innings of work for a 4.41 ERA.
Boston is 7-3 in their last 10 games following a loss, 17-37 in their last 54 against the A.L. East, and 7-3 in Buchholz’s last 10 home starts. Baltimore is 4-7 in their last 11 games overall, 0-6 in their last six game three of a series, and 3-8 in Matusz’s last 11 road starts. Baltimore is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings of these two.
The total here is set at nearly 10 and that just way too high for this one and I have it coming in under that number.
