Texas Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
The Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays meet on Sunday for game three of their series in Arlington. The Rangers are -200 favorites over the Blue Jays with an over/under run total set at 9.5.
It took the Texas Rangers extra innings to beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday but after winning on Friday as well they go for the series sweep on Sunday. On Saturday Josh Hamilton had two hits including the game winning homerun and Nelson Cruz, Yorvit Torreabla, and Mitch Moreland all also homered as the Rangers scored eight runs on 14 hits. Colby Lewis started the game for the Rangers and allowed 10 hits and four runs while striking out six over 5.1 innings but he was long gone by the time Yoshinori Tateyama earned the win. For Sunday’s finale Texas starts Yu Darvish who looks to rebound from his second loss of the year. For the season Darvish has allowed 47 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 63 over 56 innings for a 3.05 ERA.
The Toronto Blue Jays have now lost four games in a row and after taking the lead in extra innings Saturday’s loss hurt badly. On Saturday Colby Rasmus hit a two run home run, Omar Vizquel had three hits, and Jose Bautista had two hits as the Blue Jays scored seven times on 15 hits. Starter Henderson Alvarez allowed nine hits and five runs over 5.2 innings but it was Jason Frasor who blew the save and took the loss allowing the home run to Hamilton. For Sunday’s game Toronto starts Kyle Drabek who has won his last two starts after losing four in a row. For the season Drabek has allowed 41 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 41 over 52.1 innings of work for a 3.27 ERA.
Texas is 5-1 in their last six games against the A.L. East, 47-22 in their last 69 home games, and they are 7-2 in Darvish’s last nine starts. Toronto is 1-5 in their last six road games, 1-5 in their last six games against the A.L. West, and 5-2 in Drabek’s last seven starts on five days of rest.
The odds on this one are simply out of hand and I look for it to be a tight game and I probably won’t be playing it but if I were there is a lot of value here on the Blue Jays.
