Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics
The Philadelphia 76ers look to starve off elimination against the Boston Celtics in Game 6 tonight. The 76ers are -2 point favorites over the Celtics with an over/under point total set at 174.
Head to head, the Celtics are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia, while the home team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite, but just 10-23 ATS in their last 33 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. The Celtics on the other hand are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5 and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 road games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Conference Semifinals games.
Much like the 76ers did in Game 4, the Celtics dominated the second half on Monday night to run out 101-85 winners and in the process, took a 3-2 lead in the best of seven series. Behind a career best performance from Brandon Bass, Boston wiped away a five point half time deficit as they outscored the visitors 28-16 in the third period. Bass scored 18 of his career best 27 points in the pivitol third quarter, while Kevin Garnett added 20 points, Paul Pierce scored 16 points and Rajon Rondo had 13 points and 14 assists as the Celtics moved within one victory of winning the series.
Having faced each other now five times in this series and eight times this season overall, both the 76ers and Celtics should be pretty used to each other by now. While you tend to favor the team facing elimination on there home court, I think Boston closes the series out tonight. Philly are a nice team and they can count this season as a big success, however I just think the Celtics are the better team with bigger goals in mind. The C’s get the win here.
