Minnesota Twins vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Minnesota Twins face off for game three of their series at Miller Park in Milwaukee.  The Brewers are -210 favorites over the Twins with an over/under run total set at 8.5.

The Milwaukee Brewers continued their descent down the N.L. Central standings on Saturday as they lost for the fourth time in a row. Aramis Ramirez hit a two run home run, Nyjer Morgan had three hits, and Corey Hart and Ryan Braun had two hits each as the Brewers scored four runs on nine hits. On the mound Yovani Gallardo allowed three hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out three over six innings to not factor in the decision as Manny Parrra allowed a home run in the 11th inning to take the loss. On Sunday Milwaukee starts Zack Greinke who has been outstanding this season. For the year Greinke has allowed 46 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 53 over 50 innings of work for a 2.88 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins still have the worst record in baseball but their win in Milwaukee was their fourth win in a row. Trevor Plouffe hit a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning that was the difference maker and Ben Revere, Drew Butera, and Jamey Carroll all had two hits each as the Twins scored five runs on eight hits in all. On the mound Carl Pavano allowed five hits and two earned runs while striking out six over six innings for a no decision as Jeff Gray got the win and Matt Capps earned his ninth save of the year. For Sunday’s game Minnesota starts Jason Marquis who has lost his last three starts. For the season Marquis has allowed 44 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 12 over 32.1 innings of work for a 6.68 ERA.

Milwaukee is 1-6 in their last seven games overall, 9-5 in their last 14 interleague games, and 21-6 in Greinke’s last 27 starts. Minnesota is 6-1 in their last seven interleague games, 18-44 in their last 62 games as an underdog, and 1-4 in Marquis’ last five starts. Minnesota is 2-6 in their last eight games in Milwaukee.

The Brewers are a huge favorite here and I see them getting the win here to avoid getting swept at home in this series.
