Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat took it to the Pacers in game five, and now the Heat will look to continue that momentum as the Heat are prime set to advance on to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat are -3 point favorites over the Pacers with an over/under point total set at 181.
The Indiana Pacers have played under the radar all season long, but right now the Pacers are dead set in the sights of the Heat, and Miami has the look of a team primed to put the Pacers to bed. Indiana is basically a team without stars, a team that plays solid basketball and spreads the ball around nicely. It works very well for the Pacers obviously, but if one or two members of that team are having an off night, you are lacking the superstar power to pick up the slack. That was the case on Tuesday as the Heat took care of business, defeating the Pacers 115-83. Leading Indiana against Miami on Tuesday was Paul George, who was Indiana’s leading scorer with just 11 points on the night.
The Miami Heat haven’t been themselves in this series with the Pacers, but the loss of Chris Bosh to injury has played a huge role in that as LeBron and other Heat members have been forced to pick up the slack. The Heat came out of the gates hot on Tuesday taking a nine point advantage to the locker room at the half, and even though their lead was still only single digits, this game had rout written all over it. Miami came out of the locker room in the third quarter like a team on a mission, outscoring the Pacers 27-17 in the third quarter and basically putting the game away. Leading Miami against Indiana on Tuesday was Dwayne Wade who has once again found his shot as Wade finished with 28 points on the night.
The Pacers are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against the Heat in Indiana, and the Pacers have just two wins in their last seven home games against Miami. The Heat have won seven of their last ten, and heading into Thursday, Miami is 12-4 in their last 16 games against the Pacers.
I think the Pacers are going to play a more complete game here on Thursday, and I don’t expect the blowout like we had here in game five on Tuesday. That being the case, I just don’t see Indiana stopping James and Wade, and even though it may not be decided until late, I like the Heat to get the win, and the cover here on Thursday and advance on to the Final round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
