The Boston Red Sox slipped another game back in the standings Tuesday as they lost all of the ground they lost all of the ground they gained in Monday’s win. Kevin Youklis hit a home run and Adrian Gonzalez had a hit but that was all of the offense the Red Sox could muster as they scored one run on two hits. On the mound Felix Doubront allowed four hits and two runs while striking out nine over six innings for his second loss of the season. For Wednesday’s game Boston starts Daniel Bard who has lost three of his last four decisions. For the season Bard has allowed 41 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 26 over 42.2 innings of work for a 4.85 ERA.
Baltimore is 6-2 in their last eight game three of a series, 6-2 in their last eight games overall, and 0-4 in Arrieta’s last four home starts. Boston is 9-3 in their last 12 games overall, 7-3 in their last 10 road games against a right handed starter, and 2-5 in Bard’s last seven starts. Boston is 80-38 in the last 118 meetings of these two.
The total in this one is set at 9.5 and this should have no issue going over that number.
