Utah Jazz vs. Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns look to continue their dominance over the Utah Jazz from Salt Lake City tonight.  The Jazz are -4 point favorites over the Suns with an over/under point total set at 204.

Head to head, the Suns are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Utah, while the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall, but just 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Suns on the other hand are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home, but just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest.

With only two games remaining and the Jazz currently one game a head of the Suns in eighth spot, tonight’s game is huge for everyone concerned. Utah can seal a playoff berth with a win tonight, while Phoenix would still be alive with one game remaining. Seeing as how the Suns have won the past seven meetings between the two, they have to fancy their chances tonight. Not only that, but these two teams just squared off in Utah at the start of the month, with the Suns coming away 107-105 winners after Steve Nash hit the game winning shot with 1.7 seconds remaining.

While Utah have won three in a row and Phoenix have alternated wins and losses in their last seven games, I don’t think that really matter at this point. A playoff berth is virtually at stake in tonight’s game, so we know we will get maximum effort from both teams. The Jazz continue to be one of the most feared home teams in the league, yet I can’t go against the points in this one. The Suns have already shown they can win in Utah and I have no reason to believe why they can’t do it again, or at least come close to it.
