The Los Angeles Angels are easily the most disappointing team in baseball as they are struggling including losing the first two games of their series in Tampa Bay. On Tuesday Vernon Wells had two hits including a home run, Torii Hunter had two hits, and Howard Kendrick had a hit as the Angels scored two runs on seven hits for the game. On the mound C.J. Wilson allowed six hits and two runs while striking out 11 over seven innings to take his second loss of the year while Jason Isringhausen allowed a run which ended up being the difference as he walked four batters. For Thursday’s game Los Angeles starts Jerome Williams who won for the first time this year in his last outing. For the season Williams has allowed 12 hits and eight earned runs while striking out seven over 9.1 innings of work for a 7.71 ERA.
Tampa Bay is 6-1 in their last seven games overall, 12-3 in their last 15 home games against a right handed starter, and 22-7 in their last 29 games as a home favorite. Los Angeles is 6-16 in their last 22 games overall, 1-4 in their last five games as an underdog, and 6-2 in Williams’ last eight starts. Los Angeles is 5-3 in their last eight meetings in Tampa Bay.
The Angels appear to be in deep trouble and they take another loss here as their hole gets deeper.
