New Orleans Hornets vs. Memphis Grizzlies
The improving New Orleans Hornets host the surging Memphis Grizzlies from the Big Easy. The Grizzlies are -5 point favorites over the Hornets with an over/under point total set at 182.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings in New Orleans, while the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Hornets are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games as an underdog, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 home games. The Grizzlies on the other hand are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 games playing on 0 days rest, but just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
For a while there the Hornets were the worst home team in the league and for the first three quarters of the season they had won more games on the road than in the Big Easy. However, with Eric Gordon back in the lineup, New Orleans have turned things around as they have won four of their last five at home, with the only loss coming against the Los Angeles Lakers by a single bucket, a game they really should have won. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have their full compliment of players back and they are getting ready for post season action, having now won eight of their last 10 overall after taking down the visiting Utah Jazz on Saturday night.
I really hope Eric Gordon stays in New Orleans because this team could push for a playoff spot next season, provided everyone stays healthy and they get a top three pick in the draft. In terms of the game, what’s not to like about the Hornets here? With recent home wins over Utah, Sacramento and Minnesota all by over nine points, they stand a pretty good chance here. Now Memphis is better than all of those teams and I expect them to get the win here, but it won’t be easy.
