New Jersey Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers are basically in a must win situation right now as the Sixers head to New Jersey on Monday to face the New Jersey Nets.  The Sixers are -9 point favorites over the Nets with an over/under point total set at 187.5.

The New Jersey Nets won’t be attending the playoffs this season, but the Nets would love to spoil the day for their division rival Philadelphia. The Nets are allowing 99 points per game on the year, while scoring just over 93 per game, and with numbers like that you can see why the Nets have struggled. New Jersey has lost their last four outings heading into Monday, with their last defeat coming at the hands of the Bucks 106-95 on Saturday.

The Philadelphia 76ers are on the bubble for making the playoffs in the Eastern conference, something that is somewhat surprising considering the Sixers held the lead in the Atlantic division for the majority of the first part of the season. The Sixers are ranked second in the league in points allowed per game as Philly is giving up just over 89 points per game on average. The Sixers are playing well lately, as the Sixers have won their last two outings, including an overtime win over the Pacers on Saturday.

The Nets are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, and New Jersey has just one win in their last six games. The Sixers have gone over in four of their last five games, and Philly has won four out of their last five road games.

I get why Philly is favored here, but this is just way too many points to be giving up to a division rival on the road. I like the Sixers to get the win, but New Jersey should cover this large number.
