Miami Heat vs. Memphis Grizzlies
The Miami Heat look to continue their dominace at home as they play host to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. The Heat are -8 point favorites over the Grizzlies with an over/under point total set at 189.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 1-7 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Miami, while the underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the home team is 14-4 ATS in the last 18 meetings. The Heat are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest. The Grizzlies on the other hand are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5 and 33-13-1 ATS in their last 47 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
At 22-3, the Heat have one of the premier home records in the entire league, however they haven’t been as dominate as the numbers would suggest recently. Since the start of March, Miami have only won two games in South Beach by over 10 points. Games against Atlanta, Indiana, Phoenix, Philadelphia and most recently Oklahoma City were all decided by less than six points.
The Grizzlies on the other hand are coming off a double digit road loss to the defending champion Mavericks on Wednesday night, however this is a team that had won five of their previous six before that game. Three of those five wins came at Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Oklahoma City, teams with a combined home record of 59-22.
Reading the above, it’s pretty clear I like the Grizzlies here, and quite a lot I must add. Memphis isn’t going to be scared of Miami tonight and it wouldn’t entirely shock me if they pulled out the win here. With Zach Randolph and OJ Mayo coming off the bench to provide matchup problems, the Grizzlies should stick around in this one if nothing else. Take Memphis in one of the strongest plays of the day.
