Los Angeles Clippers vs. New Orleans Hornets
Chris Paul returns faces his former team as the Los Angeles Clippers play host to the New Orleans Hornets tonight. The Clippers are -10 point favorites over the Hornets with an over/under point total set at 183.5.
Despite having nothing to play for, the Hornets have five of their last six games and are coming off an overtime thriller in which they defeated the Rockets by 105-99. Eric Gordon scored a game-high 27 points, while Carl Landry provided the firepower off the bench with his 20 points and 10 rebounds. Even Al-Farouq Aminu joined the party, scoring a season-high 17 points and eight assists as the Hornets improved to 6-2 in games Gordon has played.
Meanwhile, the Clippers had won 13 of 15 before losing to the Suns by 93-90 in their last outing. Chris Paul led the way with 19 points and 10 assists, but was showing signs of a thumb injury as he shot just six of 19 from the field. It is reported that CP3 has been playing with this injury for a while and his drop in form has seemingly affected Blake Griffin’s, as he is averaging 15 points and is shooting 43.4 percent from the field in his last three games, both of which are way below his season averages.
Head to head, these teams have split two meetings this season, but the Hornets are 21-6 ATS in the last 27 meetings and 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Los Angeles.
Talent and form obviously goes to the home team in this one, but the Hornets are looking like a different team with Gordon in the mix, so this game could be closer that you might think. Unless Smith can knock Griffin out again, the Clippers will be winning this game, but I actually like the Hornets with the points in this one.
