Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets
The red hot Los Angeles Clippers look for their fifth straight win as they collide with the Denver Nuggets from the Pepsi Center. The Nuggets are -3 point favorites over the Nuggets with an over/under point total set at 202.
Head to head, the Clippers are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Denver, while the road team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the underdog is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Nuggets are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 home games. The Clippers on the other hand are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
If people were questioning the Clippers recent run of success, well they aren’t now after they dispatched the West’s best team in Oklahoma City 92-77 on Monday night. The Clippers have taken three of the four meetings against the Thunder this season, but more importantly that was their 12th win in their last 14 games overall. While Denver hasn’t reached that level of success lately, they are turning things up as we approach the playoffs, having just won crucial back to back games against a Houston team that was sitting a spot above them in the playoffs before the victories.
Even though the Nuggets have jumped up to sixth in the standings out West, they still only hold a two game advantage over the ninth place Rockets, so every game is important. Call me crazy, but I’m still not in love with this Clippers team on the road. Yes, they do have impressive wins at Dallas and Oklahoma City lately, but I’m still not sold they can consistently win on the road in hostile environments. Denver is down on production at home this season, however they are finally starting to get healthy and put it all together. Going against the grain and taking the Nuggets here as a small home favorite.
