Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz
The Houston Rockets look for their fifth straight win as they host the Utah Jazz from the Toyota Center. The Rockets are -5 point favorites over the Jazz with an over/under point total set at 198.
Head to head, the Jazz are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Houston. The Rockets are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Jazz on the other hand are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5.
Despite missing their starting backcourt for the entire second half of the season, the Rockets are still very much in playoff contention, thanks in large part to the play of Goran Dragic. The little Yugoslav is averaging a handy 10 points and dishing out five assists per game on the season, however he has upped those averages to 20 and eight over the last 10 games, helping the Rockets win seven of 10 to stay within reach of one of the remaining playoff spots out West. Meanwhile, the Jazz have had a hard stringing two consecutive wins together lately, failing do to so since beating Denver back on the 23rd of March, which was their sixth straight win at the time.
Utah is a tough team no doubt, but it’s pretty hard to go past the Rockets here. Now with Kyle Lowry working his way back into game shape, Houston knows every win is critical to securing a playoff berth in the crowed Western Conference. The Rockets never really get mentioned as one of the better teams at home, but at 20-8 on the season, they are just that. Utah on the other hand is a poultry 9-20 on the road and had it not been for the Spurs resting every one of their stars in their last game, the Jazz would be losers of seven of their last 10.
