Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards

Two lottery bound teams square off on Wednesday night as the regular season draws to an end.  The Cavs are -2 point favorites over the Wizards with an over/under point total set at 196.

Head to head, the Wizards are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings, while the underdog is 12-4 ATS in the last 16 meetings. The Cavaliers 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, but just 6-21 ATS in their last 27 games as a favorite of 0.5-4.5 and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 home games. The Wizards on the other hand are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5 and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, but just 5-22 ATS in their last 27 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.

You wouldn’t believe it, but the Washington professional basketball team is currently one of the hottest teams going around at the moment. Sure the season is virtually over and the Wizards are locked into having the second worst record in the leauge, but that’s not stopping them from competing as the regular season comes to an end. Washington have now won four straight and six of eight, which includes recent wins over Orlando, at Chicago and Miami. Cleveland on the other hand did get a surprising home win over New York last week, however that was their only win in their last six outings overall and it’s pretty clear improving their lottery positon is their main concern now.

Looking at last night’s results and the players that took the court, it’s hard to take these last couple of days seriously. Having said that, the Wizards are actually trying to pick up wins, which is something you can’t say for the other 12 lottery bound teams. Cleveland can actually do their lottery seeding some harm with a win tonight, which is exactly why I’m going with Washington here.
