Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat

Two of the East’s best collide on Tuesday night as the Miami Heat play host to the surging Boston Celtics.  The Heat are -7.5 point favorites over the Celtics with an over/under point total set at 183.

Head to head, the Celtics are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Miami, while the favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and home team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Heat are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Celtics on the other hand are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 games overall, but just 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5.

While Miami is regarded as the better team out of the two, the Celtics have actually been better than the Heat since the All-Star break, going 17-7, compared to 13-8 for Miami. Boston have been especially good over the last couple of weeks as they have past Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division, only dropping games against league leaders San Antonio and Chicago. The Heat are still racking up the wins, however they have been suspect  away from home for the most part of the season and have suffered four double digit losses in their last 10 outings.

When looking for an edge or an angle to back a certain team, the revenge factor is usually a good one two take and it often works. Seeing as Miami was pasted in Boston at the start of the month, there is no doubt the Heat has payback in their minds tonight. Having said that, there is a lot at stake in this game and I hardly think Boston will play any less hard, because let’s face it, they hate this Heat team. Miami have only lost three home games all season long, so winning in South Beach is no easy feat. However, Boston is playing better basketball at the moment and they should make a real game of this. Miami is capable of blowing the game out at any time, but Boston should be ready to go tonight.
