Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat
The Boston Celtics look for a “statement win” when they welcome the Miami Heat to town tonight. The Heat are -3 point favorites over he Celtics with an over/under point total set at 186.5.
The Heat bounced back from consecutive double-digit losses with a couple of easy wins as they trounced the Mavs before taking down the Raptors by 113-101 on Friday. Miami’s Big Three were at the peak of their powers against the Raptors as Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade scored 30 points a apiece, while LeBron James added 26 points and nine assists. In the month of March, the Heat lost just six of 16 games, but all of those six losses came on the road.
Meanwhile the Celtics have won their last four games, all without the services of their sharpshooter, Ray Allen. In the Celtics’ last game, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce combined for 45 points and Rajon Rondo made 17 assists to lead the C’s to an easy 100-79 win over the Wolves on Friday. As is usually the case for the men in green, defense keyed their victory as they forced Kevin Love to miss 13 of 18 shots to finish with just 22 points, well short of the 40 points he scored a couple nights before.
Head to head, the Heat took the first meeting of the season by 115-107 back on Dec 27. and are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings. However, the Celtics are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Boston.
With the Heat laying just 3 points in this meeting, I am sure the public will be all over the visitors in this one. However, the Heat are not quite as good against quality opposition when playing on the road, so with Ray Allen expected to return to the lineup, I’m taking the Celtics.
