Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in game two of their series in Arizona.  The Phillies are -125 favorites over the Diamondbacks with an over/under run total set at 9.

The Arizona Diamondbacks got out to a big lead against the Phillies on Monday and never looked back taking game one of the series. Justin Upton had two hits including a home run and drove in and scored two runs, Jason Kubel had a home run which was one of three hits for him, and Miguel Montero and Aaron Hill each had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored nine runs on 16 hits. On the mound Wade Miley allowed just two hits and struck out seven over six scoreless innings to get the win, his second of the season. For Tuesday’s rematch Arizona starts Josh Collmenter who isn’t having the success he had last season. So far this season Collemter has allowed 16 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 10 over 12.1 innings of work for a 10.22 ERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t score a run until the ninth inning on Monday and by that time the game was already in hand. Shane Victorino had a three run home run, Carlos Ruiz had a home run, and Ty Wigginton and John Mayberry Jr. Each had two hits and the Phillies scored five runs on 11 hits. On the mound starter Kyle Kendrick was bombed as he allowed 11 hits and seven earned runs over three innings to get tagged with the loss. For Tuesday’s game Philadelphia starts Vance Worley who got his first win of the year in his last start. For the season Worley has allowed 17 hits and five earned runs while striking out 21 over 19 innings for a 2.37 ERA.

Arizona is 2-5 in their last seven games overall, 36-16 in their last 52 home games, and 6-2 in Collmenter’s last eight home starts. Philadelphia is 13-5 in their last 18 Tuesday games, 45-21 in their last 66 against the N.L. West, and 1-5 in Worley’s last six starts. Philadelphia is 2-6 in their last eight games in Philadelphia.

The total is set at nine and I see this one coming in below that number.
