Sacramento Kings vs. Houston Rockets
The Sacramento Kings look to improve on their terrible road record when they take on the Houston Rockets tonight. The Rockets are -6 point favorites over the Kings with an over/under point total set at 208.5.
With three straight wins, the Kings looked to be building on some momentum but consecutive losses have them back at square one. After falling to the Jazz by one point, the Kings fell to the Warriors to the score of 111-108 with DeMarcus Cousins scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds in a losing cause. Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton also added 17 points apiece, but the Kings made just one of 15 from the three point line and are shooting just 22.6 percent from the three point line in their last four games.
Meanwhile, the Rockets are coming off a tough loss of their own, falling to the defending champs by 101-99 in overtime. In a losing cause, Goran Dragic continued to blossom in the starting role, scoring 24 points and eight assists including five of seven from the three point line, while Luis Scola provided his usual 19 points. Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry have been missing from the starting lineup with injuries and are not expected to feature in tonight’s game against the Kings.
Head to head, the Kings are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall but are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Houston.
Both of these teams were hitting some form before tough losses halted their momentum so a win here would get either team back on track. In terms of this matchup, the trends are leaning towards a cover for the Kings and I have to agree because while the Kings have been appalling on the road this season, surely this is a good chance for them to get one back against this shorthanded Rockets outfit. I still think the Rockets will win but I’m taking the Kings with the points.
