Phoenix Suns vs. Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets head to the desert on Sunday to face off against the Suns in Phoenix.  The Suns are -6 point favorites over the Rockets with an over/under point total set at 202.5.

The Phoenix Suns are sitting right at the .500 mark on the season with a record of 22-22. The Suns are still very much in the running in the Pacific division, Phoenix just needs to get on the ball and get some sort of run going as the Suns are currently six games back from the division leading Lakers. The Suns have a solid defense, allowing 97.5 points per game, and Phoenix can also put points on the board as the Suns are in the top half of the NBA in points scored per game at 96.4.

The Houston Rockets are 24-21 on the year heading into Sunday, and the Rockets are currently sitting just six games back of the Spurs in the Southwest division. The Rockets have one of the better offenses in the league as Houston is averaging 97.9 points per game, and defensively their numbers might not be outstanding, but the Rockets can make some stops when needed. Houston is led by guard Kevin Martin who is scoring a respectable 17.1 points per game on the year.

The Suns are on a bit of a hot streak lately as Phoenix has won five of their last six games heading into Sunday. The Suns also have won seven of their last eight games at home. The Rockets have struggled in the desert lately as Houston is just 1-4 in their last five visits to Phoenix.

I get why the Suns are favored here, and I do believe that the Rockets are in a bit of a tough spot as Phoenix plays very well at home. I just can’t see giving this many points to a very solid Houston team that has the ability to score triple digits any night of the week.
