New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The New York Knicks return home looking to get out of their slump as they host the Philadelphia 76ers.  The Knicks are -2.5 point favorites over the 76ers with an over/under point total set at 193.

Yet to register a win in the month of March, the Knicks continue to fall further behind the pack as they have now lost four straight and seven of 10 overall and currently sit four games below .500.  Following the emergence of Jeremy Lin, which sparked an eight game winning streak, New York has failed to gain any momentum with the return of Carmelo Anthony back into the lineup. However, it has to be said that the Knicks have faced a much tougher schedule since Anthony has returned from injury.

Philadelphia has endured struggles of their own recently, however back to back home victories have seen them once again take control of the Atlantic Division, holding a two game advantage over second placed Boston and a five and a half game lead over tonight’s opponent in New York. Even Turner’s recent emergence has been a big key in turning things around for the 76ers as the second year guard followed up his career high 26 points again Boston with a 16 point, 12 rebound effort in Friday night’s win over Utah.

Head to head, the 76ers are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings and 6-14 ATS in the last 20 meetings in New York, while the road team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings. The Knicks are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, but just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The 76ers on the other hand are just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

This is a tough one because I think we can all agree Philadelphia are the better team here, yet they have lost five of six on the road, while New York have won seven of their past nine and Madison Square Garden. It also has to be noted that New York is playing in their first home game since a four game road trip, a spot which never usually ends well for the home team. Tyson Chandler could be a huge in for the Knicks today, yet I have a feeling the 76ers escape New York with a win here.
