Michigan St. Spartans vs. Wisconsin Badgers
The Michigan State Spartans and the Wisconsin Badgers battle it out in the Semi-Finals of the Big Ten Conference Tournament on Saturday in Indianapolis. The Spartans are -3 point favorites over the Badgers.
The Michigan State Spartans had no problem on Friday as Tom Izzo’s team pounded Iowa getting up early and closing it out late against the Hawkeyes. Michigan State took a 16 point lead to the locker room at halftime and extended it to nearly 30 as the Spartans cleared their bench late. MSU shot a blistering 58.2 percent from the floor including 44.4 percent from beyond the three point arc and 74.1 percent of their free throws. Draymond Green had 21 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, Adrein Payne had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Keith Appling had 12 points and six assists. With a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament likely up for grabs this game has even more meaning for the Spartans.
The Wisconsin Badgers finished the season strong and Bo Ryan’s team continued their strong play beating Indiana on Friday. Wisconsin led by five at the half and while the Hoosiers battled they never let them all the way back in the game. The Badgers shot 48.2 percent and 50 percent from beyond the three point line and 75 percent from the free throw line. Jared Berggren had 16 points and nine rebounds, Jordan Taylor and Ryan Evans had 12 points each while Rob Wilson stole the show with 30 points coming from a player who averaged just three points a game. Wisconsin lost by 14 points to Michigan State in the last meeting of these two.
Michigan State is 7-3 against the spread in the Big Ten, 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 neutral site games, and 15-6 against the spread following a win. Wisconsin is 5-1 against the spread in their last six neutral site games, 2-5 against the spread following a cover, and 2-6 against the spread following a win. The favorite is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
I’m taking the Badger to pull off the upset in this one and advance.
