Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings
The Los Angeles Lakers look to continue their good form as they get a visit from the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers are -10.5 point favorites over the Kings with an over/under point total set at 192.5.
Despite a protective mask covering his face, Kobe Bryant guided the Lakers to a dominate 104-85 victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves in their first game back from the All-Star break on Wednesday night. The league’s leading scorer suffered a broken nose in Sunday’s All-Star game, yet that didn’t stop him from pouring in 31 points to lead his team to victory. The Kings on the other hand weren’t able to get their third consecutive win as they went down to the other LA team 108-100 on Thursday night.
The Kings managed to pull off the upset win over the visiting Lakers in their season opener, coming away with a 100-91 victory. Despite a game high 29 points from Kobe Bryant, the Kings pulled away in the second and third quarter to build their lead to 15 points at one stage. Marcus Thornton led the home team with 27 points on 9-13 shooting, while Tyreke Evans added 20 of his own.
Head to head, the Kings are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Los Angeles, while the road team is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings. The Lakers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall, but just 8-17 ATS in their last 25 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Kings on the other hand are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
I can’t remember the last time the Lakers were this good at home at covering the spread as they have now covered in six straight at Staples Center. The Kings on the other hand have covered in eight of their last 10 road games, so they are right there with the Lakers. For whatever reason, Sacramento usually plays Los Angeles tough and they have won two of the last three meetings, with the other game going into overtime. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a 20 point win for the Lakers here, but the Kings are a super talented team and they should be able to hang within single digits here.
