Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Los Angeles Lakers look to bounce back as they host Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. The Lakers are -1 point favorites over the Thunder with an over/under point total set at 201.
Head to head, the favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Thunder on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. NBA Pacific, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
I can’t recall the last time when the Lakers were only one point home favorites. Granted, Los Angeles has lost two of three at home and haven’t covered in any of their last five at Staples Center. However, only Oklahoma City and Miami have better home records than the Lakers this season. On the other side, Oklahoma City is coming off a blowout win in Portland, however they are very much beatable on the road with recent losses to Utah and Atlanta.
Leading the Western Conference and winners of four straight games, I can see why the Thunder are the popular pick here. Not only that, but OKC have beaten Los Angeles by 14 and 15 points in their last two outings. Having said that, I still think the Lakers are the play here. Like I touched on earlier, LA have only dropped four of their 24 home games this season and coming off a blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, I think they come out and get a statement win here. In what should be a tightly contested game throughout, look for the Lakers to pull out a close one.
