Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators
The top two teams in the SEC face off to close out their seasons as the Florida Gators host the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats are -4 point favorites over the Gators with an over/under point total set at 141.
The Florida Gators have been in the national rankings all season long but Billy Donovan’s team is getting cold at the wrong time as they have lost their last two games. Florida is 10-5 in the SEC, 14-1 at home this season, tied for second place in the conference standings, and they are 1-3 against teams ranked in the top 25. Bradley Beal is averaging 14.7 points and 6.5 rebounds, Kenny Boynton is averaging 17.1 points, Erving Walker is averaging 12.6 points and 4.7 assists, and Patric Young is averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds. As a team UF is averaging 77.4 points and they are shooting 46.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.6 points and their opponents are shooting 42.6 percent. The Gators have the shooters to play with anyone when they are hot but when they are cold it can look very ugly.
The Kentucky Wildcats are on a roll as John Calipari’s team is ranked number one in the nation heading into the final game of the regular season. UK is 15-0 in the SEC, 7-1 on the road this season, and were the runaway winners of the regular season conference title this year. Doron Lamb is averaging 13.5 points, Anthony Davis is averaging 14.1 points and 9.8 rebounds, Terrance Jones is averaging 12.1 points and 6.7 rebounds, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 12.0 points and 7.8 rebounds. As a team the Wildcats are averaging 77.8 points and they shoot 48.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.5 points and their opponents shoot just 36.4 percent. Kentucky was in the Final Four a year ago and this season they hope to take it one more level further.
Florida is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games overall, 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning road record, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven SEC games. Kentucky is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games overall, and 5-12-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The underdog is 3-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings of these two.
This is a tough one as if it were in Lexington or even a neutral site it would be an easy pick for Kentucky but Florida has a legitimate chance to pull the upset at home in this one.
