Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators
The Kentucky Wildcats and Florida Gators battle it out with a trip to the SEC Conference Tournament Championship game going to the winner. The Wildcats are -9.5 point favorites over the Gators.
The Kentucky Wildcats have been the top team in the nation for the bulk of the season and in their first game f the SEC Tournament they didn’t show anything to make anyone believe they weren’t worthy of that spot. UK led by just a point at the half against LSU but John Calipari’s team pulled away from the scrappy Tigers to win by nine. The Wildcats hit just one shot from beyond the three point arc but they shot 42.9 percent overall and shot 69.7 percent of their free throws making 23 from the line. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 19 points and nine rebounds, Terrance Jones had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Anthony Davis had 12 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocks, and Doron Lamb had 12 points. Kentucky swept Florida this year winning by 20 in Lexington and 15 in Gainesville.
The Florida Gators have been hot and cold of late and while they got the win on Friday against Alabama Billy Donovan’s team ran hot and cold again. Florida led by as many as 12 late but once again they shot three pointers early in the shot clock and ran cold allowing Alabama to come all the way back and not just make a game of it, giving them a chance to win. The Gators shot 38.5 percent and 33.3 percent from beyond the three point arc but they threw up 30 three’s meaning they missed 20 of them but were helped by hitting 16 of 19 free throws. Bradley Beal had 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, Erik Murphy had 15 points, and Kenny Boynton had 14 points. Florida lost their last three games to close out the regular season.
Kentucky is 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 Saturday games, 3-12-1 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Florida is 0-4 against the spread against following a game which they didn’t cover, 0-5 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Florida is 0-3-1 against the spread in the last four meetings of these two.
I like the Wildcats to roll in this one as I will lay the 9.5 points.
