Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat looks to continue their dominance over the Indiana Pacers when the two square off tonight. The heat are -3 point favorites over the Pacers with an over/under point total set at 193.
In a possible NBA finals preview, the Heat came up well short in their clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night, getting behind early to eventually fall 103-87 in Oklahoma City. In a tightly contested first quarter, the young Thunder broke the game open with a 35-25 second quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game. Indiana on the other hand is coming off an impressive 125-104 victory at Milwaukee on Saturday night, which was their third game in as many nights.
Although their last meeting was decided in overtime, the Heat have taken all three meetings against the Pacers this season and nine of the last 10 overall. While Miami cruised to comfortable victories in the first two games, they were given a real test by the Pacers in their most recent meeting in South Beach. Down big early, Miami fought back to force overtime, where they would eventually prevail 93-91, thanks to a combined 55 points from Lebron James and Dwayne Wade.
Head to head, the Heat are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Indiana, while the underdog is 23-9-1 ATS in the last 33 meetings and road team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Pacers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games. The Heat on the other hand are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 0 days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a road favorite of 0.5-4.5.
I would have liked the Pacers a little bit more here if the Heat weren’t coming off a big loss to one of the league’s elite teams just last night. However, as it stands, Miami roll into town tonight looking to take their frustrations out on someone and they have done a job of that in the past as they are a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points. Indiana did take Miami into overtime in their last meeting, however I think that was more of a one off than anything else as the Heat have beaten the Pacers the previous four meetings by an average of 15.5 points per game. Indiana might take this one, but I just feel more comfortable taking the Heat coming off a bad loss.
