Houston Rockets vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Two teams vying for playoff spots collide tonight as the Houston Rockets take on the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. The Rockets are -1 point favorites over the Grizzlies with an over/under point total set at 191.5.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings, but just 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Houston. The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Rockets are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Southwest. The Grizzlies on the other hand are 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 vs. NBA Southwest, but just 4-13 ATS in their last 17 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
Although they have been up and down, the Rockets have done a good job holding the fort until their starting backcourt in Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin return. Lowry will miss his 12th consecutive game tonight and Martin his 10th as Houston looks to secure one of the last remaining playoff spots out West. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies appear to be back on track with consecutive victories after a stretch where they lost five of six through the middle of March. With Zach Randolph getting back into game shape, Memphis hope to be playing their best basketball heading into post season play.
While Houston has major injury concerns in Lowry and Martin, Memphis might have some of their own as Marc Gasol and Mike Conley are both under injury clouds, however the pair are expected to take the court tonight.
In a real toss of the coin, I’m going with Memphis here. While this could easily go either way, Memphis should be at full strength and I think they are starting to play at the level everyone expects them too.
