Georgetown Hoyas vs. Belmont Bruins

The Georgetown Hoyas and the Belmont Bruins meet on Friday in Columbus as they face off for a first round NCAA Tournament game in the Midwest Regional.  The Hoyas are -3.5 point favorites over the Bruins with an over/under point total set at 133.5.

The Georgetown Hoyas had another solid season as John Thompson III’s team hits March Madness as a well deserved three seed. Georgetown is 11-2 in out of conference games, 2-2 in neutral site games, and they played the 12th ranked schedule in the country. Jason Clark is averaging 13.9 points, Hollis Thompson is averaging 12.7 points and 5.6 rebounds, and Henry Sims is averaging 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds. As a team the Hoyas are averaging 69.1 points and they are shooting 46.3 percent and defensively they are allowing 59.2 points and their opponents are shooting 38.7 percent from the floor. Georgetown bowed out early in the Big East Tournament but they are going to be a handful to knock out here.

The Belmont Bruins are back in the NCAA Tournament and after losing in the first round a year ago Rick Byrd’s team looks to advance this time around. Belmont is 11-5 in out of conference games, 4-0 in neutral site games, 0-1 against teams ranked in the top 25, and they played 208th ranked scheduled in the nation. Kerron Johnson is averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 assists, Ian Clark averages 12.7 points, and Drew Hanlen is averaging 10.9 points. As a team Belmont is averaging 81.5 points, 17.4 assists, and they are shooting 48.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.3 points and their opponents shoot 42.4 percent. Belmont has won 11 games in a row coming into this one.

Georgetown is 4-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, 4-1 against the spread following a loss, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five NCAA Tournament games. Belmont is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games, 0-5 against the spread following a win, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five neutral site games.

I have this one in the high 120′s but the total is set in the low 130′s so the under is my play.
