Dallas Mavericks vs. New York Knicks

The Dallas Mavericks look for payback as they host the New York Knicks.  The Mavericks are -2.5 point favorites over the Knicks with an over/under point total set at 189.5.

Beginning with their loss to the Knicks, the defending champion Mavericks have now dropped six of eight after falling to the Oklahoma City 95-91 on Monday night. Dallas were in the game the whole way against the West leading Thunder, before being outscored 8-0 over the final 2:45. The Knicks on the other hand have struggled to get a consistency going after winning eight straight as they have alternated wins and losses in last seven games to fall below .500 again.

Behind 28 points and a career high 14 assists from Jeremy Lin, the Knicks powered past the Mavericks 104-97 in their first meeting of the season in-front of the Knick faithful. New York, who has lost 17 of the previous 19 matches between the two, outscored Dallas 32-22 in the pivotal final quarter to secure the come from behind win, despite a game high 34 points from the reigning finals MVP in Dirk Nowitzki.

Head to head, the Knicks are 6-14 ATS in the last 20 meetings and the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings. The Mavericks are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 vs. NBA Atlantic, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. The Knicks on the other hand are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 29-13-1 ATS in their last 43 games as a road underdog, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5.

The Knicks are getting the Mavericks in a pretty favorable spot here as they are coming off a tough game in Oklahoma City last night and it looks like Brendan Haywood will miss after injuring himself last night. Even though they have lost six of eight, I still like the defending champs here. I just don’t see them losing two straight to a New York team who haven’t proven anything on the road this season.
