Charlotte Bobcats vs. Orlando Magic

The Charlotte Bobcats face a tough task as the Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic roll into town.  The Magic are -9.5 point favorites over the Bobcats with an over/under point total set at 189.

The Bobcats season just keeps on getting worse as they blew a 16 point lead against the visiting New Jersey Nets on Sunday to fall 104-101. Behind a season high 57 points from Deron Williams, the league worst Bobcats have now lost five straight and 21 of their last 22 overall. After losing two of three, the Magic bounced back with a pair of wins over two teams with losing records in Milwaukee and Toronto to improve to 25-14 on the season.

Orlando has continued their dominance over Bobcats this season, winning both contests to make it seven in a row. Behind a strong performance from their frontcourt in Ryan Anderson and Dwight Howard, the Magic cruised to a comfortable 100-79 victory in their first meeting of the season in the Queen City. Charlotte put up more of a fight in the most recent showdown, but the result was the same as Dwight Howard tallied 25 points and 17 rebounds to lead Orlando to a 96-89 victory.

Head to head, the Magic are 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Charlotte, while the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings. The Bobcats are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5,  3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Magic on the other hand are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a favourite, but just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

I can’t see many picking Charlotte in this spot. They really don’t have anything going for them except they played Orlando tough in the last meeting, yet I’m going with them here. The only stat working in my favor is that the Magic have only covered once in their last nine playing teams with a losing record, meaning they play down to their competition.

Pick
